摘要: The understanding of parathyroid diseases, particularly neoplastic processes, has advanced tremendously in the past century and a quarter since original description glands by Sandstrom 1880. Parathyroid diseases are classically stratified into two major groups: single gland (and perhaps more controversially, double gland) disease; multigland disease. Both processes manifest as physiologically, macroscopically microscopically abnormal proliferations resulting enlargement. However, disease is considered neoplastic, consisting adenomas uncommonly, carcinomas, while to be nonneoplastic, hence term hyperplasia.
