Cervical cancer screening practices among women in Ghana: evidence from wave 2 of the WHO study on global AGEing and adult health

摘要: Cervical cancer is the third most common that affects women worldwide. It has been and remains leading cause of mortality among in Ghana. Despite fact cervical preventable through early detection treatment precancerous lesions, anecdotal evidence from gynaecological clinics Ghana indicates patients present with a late stage disease. This study assesses screening practices Data World Health Organization’s (WHO) multi-country Study on AGEing adult health (SAGE) wave 2 conducted between 2014 2015 was used. We employed binary logistic regression models to analyse data 2711 examine factors associated having pelvic examination aged ≥18 years. Among those who had examination, we applied receiving Pap smear test as subgroup analysis. Of 18 years or older surveyed, 225 (8.3%) ever only 66 (2.4%) them reported done test. For 26.94% Ethnic group, marital status, father’s educational level difficulty self-care were independently undergoing examination. Only age healthcare involvement within past 5 years survey. Marital satisfaction Even though lesions using test, patronage this still very low Factors influencing include status women, their well healthcare. These may be consequences weak system lack national policy screening.
