摘要: The increasing interest for large seawater desalination plants with reverse osmosis (RO) is primarily due to the favourable economy and good operating experience. As an example energy recovery a well established method in order lower water cost. However, importance of design optimization has not been investigated detail. aim this paper evaluate parameters, which have great impact on optimization. main parameter discussed recovery, exemplified 56,500 m3/d (15 MGD) RO plant Middle East. computer program developed evaluation based actual tenders from East area. In addition membrane programs information RO-manufacturers used. The determines capacity pretreatment configuration plant. It accordingly influence number cost items such as pumps, filters, membranes, chemicals civil works (buildings etc.). Design respect different recoveries reported several commercial membranes. results show that optimum rather broad somewhat depending type membranes used. possibility change one another plant, designed specific membrane, also discussed. Finally, hybrid RO-MSF concept compared optimized double-pass system case studies mentioned above.
