摘要: Abstract The firing rates of single neurones in the rat cerebral cortex were recorded using multibarrel glass microelectrodes, and response to drugs applied by microiontophoresis was investigated. A greater number cells responded noradrenaline (NA) (30–66 nA) than β-phenylethylamine (PE) (30–100 nA). When responses obtained both, 90% gave same NA PE. Applications PE with small currents (0–12 caused an increase without affecting baseline rate or acetylcholine, glutamate, GABA 5-hydroxytryptamine. An seen both excitatory inhibitory NA. enhancement lasted up 39 minutes after end application. (0–3 failed alter Possible mechanisms effect on are discussed. These results provide further evidence for hypothesis that trace amines can modulate catecholamine neurotransmission.
