摘要: Neuropeptides are emerging as key regulators of stem cell niche activities in health and disease, both inside outside the central nervous system (CNS). Among them, neuropeptide Y (NPY), one most abundant neuropeptides non-neural districts, has become focus much attention for its involvement a wide range physiological pathological conditions, including modulation different activities. In particular, pro-neurogenic role NPY been evidenced neurogenic niche, where direct effect on neural progenitors demonstrated, while cellular types, astrocytes, microglia endothelial cells, also appear to be responsive peptide. The marked during several conditions that affect neurogenesis, stress, seizures neurodegeneration, further highlights relevance this peptide regulation adult neurogenesis. view considerable interest understanding mechanisms controlling fate, review aims summarize discuss current data signaling components order elucidate complexity underlying modulatory properties
