A review of current information and communication technologies: can they be used to assess apathy?

摘要: Background Neuropsychiatric symptoms, such as apathy, have an important impact on the quality of life both patients diagnosed with dementia and their caregivers represent a strong predictor progression illness. Current clinical assessment methods risk bias resulting from assessor's subjectivity, pointing to need for additional objective systematic tools. Therefore, use information communication technologies (ICT) actigraphy automatized video monitoring are interest in addition current methods. Aim The goal this study is give overview tools apathy practice new approaches help ICT. Methods This was conducted narrative literature overview. Results There evidence that apart currently used ICT could provide clinicians valuable earlier detection therefore more accurate diagnosis apathy. Conclusions There no techniques specifically designed but nevertheless several seem be promising deserve study. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
