摘要: Abstract Objectives. To evaluate the role of urinary polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in detection Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTb) patients with a clinical suspicion genitourinary (GUTB) and to compare its sensitivity intravenous urography (IVU), bladder biopsy, urine culture for acid fast bacilli (AFB). Methods. The study was carried out between September 1997 December 1998 42 GUTB. Their features, organ involvement, investigation results were studied. diagnostic yield PCR MTb comparison routine AFB culture, IVU assessed. Results. There 25 male 17 female patients, mean age 31.04 years. Patients suspected having GUTB most often presented irritative voiding symptoms. Two had abnormal renal parameters. Of clinically GUTB, radiologic abnormalities suggestive found 37 (88.09%); isolated 13 (30.95%); biopsy positive 11 (45.83%); 34 cases (80.95%). 35 proven diagnosis 32 (91.42%) (37.14%). Bladder (45.83%) 24 whom taken, 33 (94.29%). Conclusions. A high index is necessary In cases, may be but it not specific. present study, 88.09% patients. only 37.14% 45.83%. Urinary sensitive indicator 94.29% It evident from this series that provides much faster MTb. rapid, sensitive, specific method avoids delay starting treatment.
