摘要: Abstract This study investigates the effect of anionic surfactant modification on activated carbon (AC) to enhance adsorption ammonium ion in aqueous solution. Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), sodium benzene sulfonate (SDBS) or octanoate (SO) was used for modification. At initial concentration 55 mg NH4-N/L and adsorbent dose 50 g/L, SDS-modified AC showed highest removal efficiency 82% among modified ACs studied. The hydrophobic group SDS strongly attached showing almost negligible desorption after same time, functional provided exchange sites favorable adsorption. By maximizing loading AC, can further be improved (5% increase). When Na+, K+ Ca2+ coexisted solution at 55 mg/L, inhibition these cations (
