摘要: Since the 1940s mangroves have expanded their areal coverage in many estuaries northern half of North Island New Zealand. The extent mangrove colonization Waikaraka Estuary, Tauranga Harbour, has been documented using photogrammetric analysis, and impacts subsequent removal are analysed. Surface elevation changes response to measured RSETs (Rod Elevation Table) erosion pins, sediment accumulation rates were calculated from trap results. Temporal surface texture Mangrove physiognomy is described analysis mean plant height, density pneumatophore density. Plant heights reflect shrubby growth form growing toward southern climatic limit, with under 1.5 m. increased approximately 16,000 m2 1943 115,000 2003. May 2005, 9,600 vegetation removed estuary. For monitoring period March 2006 2007, change cleared areas ranged - 9 mm 38 yr (mean -14 yr). Conversely, forest varied between sites, ranging -5 14 3 Results pins a coarsening at consistent release after removal.
