摘要: Background: Twin-pairs discordant for coronary heart disease (CHD) can be used to examine the possible contribution of genetic and other familial factors relationship between CHD risk factors, in particular physical inactivity at leisure, CHD. Methods results: In 1975 baseline, 8205 men aged 25‐69 years Finnish Twin Cohort without overt responded a questionnaire. The outcome measures were hospitalization or death from before age 70 1977 1995 based on reliable nationwide registries. Among all men, age-adjusted relative was 0.52 (95% confidence interval (CI) 0.39, 0.71) participating conditioning exercise compared sedentary their questionnaire responses. age, covariate (body-mass index, smoking, hypertension, diabetes) adjusted-relative 0.68 (CI 0.50, 0.92). twin-pairs during follow-up (N 311), odds ratio (OR) having 0.54 0.27, 1.09) exercisers men. point estimates pairs analyses same magnitude as obtained individuals, though statistically not significant due smaller samples. contrast, smoking (OR 3.21) diabetes 10.0) baseline also predictors Conclusions: By studying twins we able selection bias found further supporting evidence that leisure sedentariness helps prevent but stronger factor. © 2000 Elsevier Science Ireland Ltd.
