摘要: Background and aims. The aim of this study was to determine whether variations in the mesiodistal dimensions mandibular canines had any role sex determination. Materials methods. comprised patients 19-24-year age group (20 males 20 females). Me- siodistal measured at maximum width, first intraorally, then on plas- ter models same patient, followed by intraoral periapical radiograph patient. values were subjected statistical analysis using t-test. Results. It might be concluded from results that there exists a definite statistically significant difference mesio- distal width when for females. Moreover, left canine showed greater sexual dimorphism (9.7%) compared right (7.4%). Conclusion. present establishes canines. can standard index is quick easy method determining identification an unknown individual.
