The actions on functional refractory period and contractility of the antiarrhythmic drugs quinidine, ajmaline, sparteine, phenytoin, procainamide, lidocaine, brufacaine, propranolol, iproveratril were determined in isolated left atria rats guinea-pigs. Ajmaline, most active compounds. 2. The formal relations between concentration effect different rat guinea-pig especially with respect to period. 3. Antiarrhythmic activities general greater than atria. This applies not for negative inotropic actions. 4. Both preparations yielded, however, highly correlated ranking orders contractility, therapeutic indices. 5. The atrium is considered as suitable work that guinea-pig.
