摘要: Long-term population trend data are not available for most butterfly species in many areas. Historically, this has meant that governmental agencies make conservation decisions affecting group of organisms with limited knowledge about their existing populations. To remedy situation Florida, a statewide database containing locations at-risk on lands was developed primarily through the efforts citizen scientists. This paper describes collection methodology used and presents several cases studies showing how already made difference shaping decision-making process to help species. A discussion methodologies generate database, relative more traditional monitoring surveys, is presented recommendations ways optimize contributions volunteers insect research programs.
