摘要: Research on the social patterns of depression in community finds consistently that high levels education and income, being male, married are associated with lower depression. We attempt to explain these as result two essential perceptions: sense controlling one's own life rather than at mercy powerful others outside forces, having a supportive understanding person talk times trouble. In theory, control reduces because it encourages active problem solving, support provides to. find evidence for first proposition: persons who feel their lives more likely solve problems. Perceived solving decrease largely effects income find, however, has mixed effects. Support decreases depression, but talking when faced problem, which increases level support, explains small part effect marriage Control have an interactive suggesting can substitute one another depression: need other, low is remedied by other.
