Temporal and spatial changes in the bio-optical properties of seawater in the Nordic Seas – AREX’2003 and 2006

摘要: For many years the Nordic Seas have been subject of research into ocean circulation carried out by Institute Oceanology PAS,especially inflow Atlantic water and intensive turbulent mixing these waters with Arctic shelf waters. Ocean currents affect various biological processes, among them supply organicmatter oxygen,which constitute foundation for uniquefloraandfaunaoftheSvalbardislands. SpectrophotometricexaminationsofsurfacewatersusinganM32Bspectrofluorophotometer (LDI Ltd.) were repeatedly during cruises on board r/v ‘Oceania’. The results presented in this paper come from AREX campaigns 2003 2006.Analysis chlorophyll afluorescenceexcitation spectra recorded shows an increase phytoplankton abundance changes spatial distribution species characteristicof Atlantic, patterns pigments their compared physical characteristics masses. analysis confirmed that move together theAtlanticwaterasthisflowsinto northernlatitudes.
