摘要: Abstract Studies of the Mesosphere, Stratosphere and Troposphere by radar have shown great growth in last 10–15 years. The has occurred both diversity depth all areas technology, fundamental research, application. New technology faster computers permitted real-time analysis routines that were previously impossible, allowed better spatial temporal resolution. Interferometric imaging techniques, spectral processing, been a particular focus new technological advances, systems with multiple receivers frequencies developed. Better computer-processing capability, coupled frequency procedures like Capon's method to be applied, for example. With regard processes, diffusive mechanisms detected, such as slow diffusion associated “dressed aerosols” Polar leading Mesosphere Summer Echoes. Higher resolution studies turbulent breakdown examination wave processes. Some old techniques had substantial rebirth, applications meteor radars, which can now measure winds temperatures mesopause region. also smaller less powerful instruments make significant contributions important areas. An example is development momentum flux measurement small compact radars measurements this parameter, thereby increasing global coverage do this. In application, windprofilers (a offshoot MST radars) become key components many meteorological networks, provide input numerical forecast models countries. These developments, more, are discussed within review. It course impossible give due discussion areas, some selectivity necessary review, but hopefully we will at least touch on most
