摘要: Animals' body size varies intra-specifically and geographically among populations, many species (including small carnivores) show sexual dimorphism larger individuals (lower superficial area/volume ratio) inhabiting cooler climates complying with Bergman's rule. In the present study we analyse data of common genets wild-caught in three different regions Iberian Peninsula, searching for variations weight between males females, testing dimorphism, as well micro-scale geographical populations biometrics dimorphism. We use field measurements such length (body tail) weight, to characterise Peninsula. Our results that significant differences sexes, although is lower than other carnivores, they comply Rensch's rule, showing greater variation. also follow being bigger heavier colder northern regions. Although have detected morphometric studied indexes varied little. discuss our light hypotheses given explain trying identify mechanisms might play a role genets.
