摘要: Facet joint injection is considered to be a safe procedure. There have been some reported cases of facet pyogenic infection and also 3 spreading paraspinal muscle epidural space due intra-articular injections. To the author's knowledge, abscesses after without not reported. Here we report case in which extra-articular resulted infection. A 50-year-old man presenting with acute back pain fever was admitted hospital. He had history diabetes mellitus undergone syndrome diagnosis at private clinic 5 days earlier. Physical examination showed tenderness over region. Magnetic resonance image (MRI) demonstrated abscess around fourth fifth spinous processes an additional compressing thecal sac. The joints were preserved. laboratory results white blood cell count 14.9 x 10(9) per liter, erythrocyte sedimentation rate 52 mm/hour, 10.88 mg/dL C-reactive protein. Laminectomy drainage performed. pus found muscles, communicated through hole ligamentum flavum. Cultures grew Staphylococcus aureus. Paraspinal rare complication demonstrating formation invasive procedure near spine highly possible.
