摘要: The rapid and complete repair of the corneal epithelium following ocular surgery or trauma is essential for maintenance normal visual acuity. In this study authors examined epithelial wound healing in rabbit after cells were mechanically removed leaving basal lamina intact. decrease area (mm2/hr) was neither linear nor amenable to simple kinetic analysis. However, analysis data terms radius (mm/hr) revealed a biphasic process consisting an initial latent phase with no movement (5.5 +/- .3 hr), followed by phase. rate 64 2 microns/hr. Neither migration during affected variations size. Ultrastructural studies demonstrated that there increased desquamation surface as well cellular subcellular reorganization cells. At end phase, leading edge composed single cell layer. onset coincided first ultrastructural observation typical ruffled membranes filopodia. This work demonstrates provides straightforward accurate means assess kinetics therapeutic modulation healing.
