摘要: Geomechanical properties are of great importance in coal mining exploration, (enhanced) bed methane production and carbon geosequestration deep unmineable seams. However, highly heterogeneous rocks, conventional experimental methods (e.g. acoustic, seismic or unconfined compressive strength tests) only measure the cm-m scale bulk properties. Thus, we measured geomechanical at nanoscale Western Australian Collie coal. We mapped mechanical heterogeneity correlated it with sample's morphology (measured by SEM-EDS). It was found that quartz siderite had higher Young's moduli (up to 28.6 GPa), while organic matrix lower (from 3 GPa 5 GPa), soft material kaolinite lowest (<3 GPa). conclude is necessary nano/micro reliably assess eventually facilitate field CBM/ECBM CO2 storage.
