摘要: Nanoindentation testing requires well prepared samples with a good surface finish. Achieving finish is difficult for heterogeneous materials, particularly those weak and fragile structures/phases, which are easily damaged or lost during preparation. The loss of structures can be drastically reduced by impregnating the sample resin before cutting polishing. This technique commonly used in SEM microscopy but has not been nanoindentation-testing before. paper reports an investigation to extract micro-mechanical properties different phases impregnated sandstone 1-day hydrated cement samples. results appeared show that it feasible use specimens nanoindentation study both materials.
