Knowledge, perceptions and practices regarding brucellosis in pastoral communities of Kagera Region in Tanzania

摘要: Objective: A cross-sectional study was conducted in June 2017 to assess the knowledge, perception and practices on brucellosis by pastoralists of Kagera ecosystem Tanzania, using qualitative methods. Materials methods: Five focus group discussions six participants each were with livestock farmers, administration leaders, religious representatives youth. In addition, three key informants conducted, involving officials livestock, wildlife public health departments district. Data analyzed content analysis inductive deductive Results: The revealed low knowledge regarding among respondents. Although recognized as a zoonotic disease, they consider it less importance. had causes, symptoms mode transmission this disease. However, perceived interactions between humans, together movements borders be potential risks for introduction their communities. Moreover, habit drinking unpasteurized milk, lack protective gears during assisting animals giving birth poor vaccination program need improved community education. Conclusion: coordinated One Health approach is needed further studies are suggested reveal status guide its control prevention.
