Effects of UV-C and Vacuum-UV TiO2 Advanced Oxidation Processes on the Acute Mortality of Microalgae.

摘要: Advanced oxidation processes/technologies (AOT) that combine a semiconductor, such as titanium dioxide (TiO2), with UV source have been used to eliminate microorganisms in various water treatment applications. To facilitate the applicability of this technique, gain efficiency from semiconductor compared alone respect different target organisms requires evaluation. The primary objective study was determine effects TiO2 and wavelength on freshwater alga, Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata marine Tetraselmis suecica. For each species, dose-response experiments were conducted median lethal dose (LC50) following treatments: light emitted peak 254nm, 254nm presence 254 185nm TiO2. In both significantly increased mortality. Across all three treatments, P.subcapitata more sensitive than T.suecica; moreover, addition cell mortality but not T.suecica.
