摘要: Background: Survival of gastric cancer in the Western world remains poor. We conducted a retrospective population-based study to evaluate trends incidence, treatment and outcome adenocarcinoma. Methods: All patients diagnosed with adenocarcinoma during 1990-2007 Dutch Eindhoven Cancer Registry area were included (n = 4797). Trend analyses for mortality, tumour patient characteristics, crude overall survival, according location (cardia versus non-cardia). Temporal changes odds undergoing surgery risk death analysed by means multivariable regression methods. Results: Age-standardised incidence decreased among males (24-12 per 100,000 inhabitants) females (10-6); mortality rates at similar pace. The proportion cardia tumours remained stable. Stage distribution worsened over time (stages I II: 32% 1990-1993 22% 2006-2007, p 0.005) non-cardia (stage IV: 33% 40% 0.0003) cancer. Chemotherapy increased all settings. Five-year survival tumours. Age stage had significant influence on after stratification localisation. After adjustments relevant factors (i.e. stage), since late 90s (hazard ratio 0.8, 0.01). Conclusion: absence improvement indicates need earlier detection prospective studies new therapy regimens standardised pathology.
