Appraisal of marigold flower based lutein as natural colourant for textile dyeing under the influence of gamma radiations

摘要: Abstract Maintaining colour strength and fastness of the fabrics dyed with natural colourants had been major constraint utilizing plant based dyes in modern textile practices. The present study was concerned extraction lutein dye from marigold ( Tagetes erecta L.) flowers role gamma radiation improving characteristics extracted dye. investigation fabric spectraflash showed that ray treatment 30 kGy optimum absorbed dose for surface modification to improve its uptake ability. Good obtained when irradiated cotton (RC, 30 kGy) extract radiated flower powder (RP) at 70 °C 85 min, keeping M:L 1:50 using bath pH 5.0. results mordanting experiments revealed 7% tannic acid as pre-mordant 5% Cu post-mordant were best treatments strength. It found induced a potential be utilized sector produce yellowish green shades.
