摘要: Cell-to-cell communication mediates a plethora of cellular decisions and behaviors that are crucial for the correct robust development multicellular organisms. Many these signals encoded in secreted hormones or growth factors bind to activate cell surface receptors, transmit cue intracellularly. One major superfamilies receptors receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs). For nearly half century RTKs have been focus intensive study due their ability alter fundamental aspects biology, such as proliferation, growth, shape, because central importance diseases cancer. Studies model organisms Drosophila melanogaster proved invaluable identifying new conserved RTK pathway components, delineating contributions, discovery mechanisms control RTK-signaling events. Here we provide brief overview superfamily general used regulation. We further highlight functions several govern distinct cell-fate explore how activities developmentally controlled.
