摘要: Abstract Metabolites obtained by incubation of washed bovine sperm in citrate-bicarbonate (IVT) buffer were studied using paper chromatographic procedures, U-C 14 -fructose, metabolic inhibitors, and standard chemical procedures. Accumulation labeled hexose phosphates from fructose was negligible; however, a small amount fructose-1,6-diphosphate did accumulate the presence N-ethyl maleimide with iodoacetate adenosine triphosphate. On occasion, pentose-like substance found which not xylose, ribose, arabinose, or ribulose. Its low yield prevented identification. Glucose formed positively identified incubations containing cyanide. It represented about 6% radioactivity that could be recovered. Results indicate pathways other than Embden-Meyerhof may operative for sperm.
