摘要: Publisher Summary Reactive oxygen species (ROS) and free radicals can be generated in skin by ultraviolet (UV) irradiation, ultrasonication, toxic or allergic chemical noxes, even during normal metabolic processes of cells. More than 10 ROS are per day cell under physiological conditions, which have to dealt with the endogenous antioxidant system. Oxidative stress arises when balance between prooxidant drifts favor a status. Some general events early phase oxidative response depletion intra- intercellular antioxidants, enhancement intracellular hydroperoxide level, induction specific signal transduction pathways. This chapter presents an example screening strategy for successful selection vivo functional topical antioxidants using special vitro, ex vivo, methods. The protocol used is subdivided into three steps. In primary step, efficacy evaluated vitro cultures cells, biocompatibility selected efficient proved vivo. second tested clinical pilot study biopsies from -pretreated sites. third preselected has been confirmed studies on panels human volunteers.
