摘要: Abstract Researchers have been studying the relationship between host HLA type and immune response to HIV-1 since early in AIDS epidemic. Although literature is replete with suggestions of an association, exact locus nature unclear. This article reviews current HLA-HIV/AIDS literature, providing a complete summary all significant associations reported journal articles (N = 30) 1982 1993. Consistent alleles comprising haplotype DQ2-DR3-B8-Cw7-A1 progression support genetic component progression. DQ1-DR1-B35-Cw4-All DR5 also show consistent HIV/AIDS outcomes, although it unclear whether they are measuring susceptibility infection, progression, or both. The question influences infection remains unanswered, as well-designed studies addressing this topic lacking. Similarly, further needed clarify if associated KS. Several issues that complicate across-study comparisons discussed including heterogeneity both AIDS, potential confounding by race risk group, other biases which may influence results. In addition, several proposed biologic mechanisms explored. Human Immunology 44, 156–169 (1995)
