摘要: Development and evolution of auditory hindbrain nuclei are two major unsolved issues in hearing research. Recent characterization transgenic mice identified the rhombomeric origins mammalian unraveled genes involved their formation. Here, we provide an overview on these data by assembling them into rhombomere-specific gene regulatory networks (GRNs), as they underlie developmental evolutionary processes. To explore mechanisms, compare GRNs operating with available from inner ear other vertebrate groups. Finally, propose that availability genomic sequences all taxa novel genetic techniques for non-model organisms unprecedented opportunity to investigate development comparative molecular approaches. The dissection mechanisms leading structures will also important framework processing disorders, a clinical problem difficult tackle so far. These will, therefore, foster basic research alike.
