摘要: Previous studies of lower esophageal sphincter pressures during the menstrual cycle and pregnancy have suggested that smooth muscle relaxing effect progesterone depresses tone. Results, however, been contradictory limited to a small number patients. We studied distal peristaltic follicular (days 2-8) luteal 20-28) phases cycle. Twenty normal menstruating women (mean age 31 yr) not using oral contraceptives were evaluated. A low compliance pneumohydraulic infusion system was used for all studies. Lower pressure determined by both rapid station pull-through techniques. Distal recorded 2 7 cm above in response 10 wet swallows (5 cc H2O). Mean amplitude duration esophagus Plasma estrogen concentrations obtained correlated with changes pressures. The results as follows: (a) unlike prior investigations, we found had no on (b) likewise, change contractions concluded female sex hormone characterize are associated parameters motor function.
