摘要: Abstract The chloroplast atpB-rbcL spacer was sequenced for 115 species of Ilex and Nemopanthus mucronatus (Aquifoliaceae). In addition, rbcL sequences were obtained 47 selected species. Taken together with fossil records in the literature, data indicate that: (1) lineage already cosmopolitan long before end Cretaceous. A relative test rate nucleotide substitution indicates that extant do not represent entire because extinction its basal branches. common ancestor probably appeared at upper Tertiary. (2) Several Asian/North American disjunctions are observed, as well North American/South relationships. directions these relationships yet to be determined. African mitis is closely related Asian anomala (Hawaii Tahiti) perado canariensis (both Macaronesia) have totally different relationships, former being Eurasian species, while latter remain obscure. (3) Gene trees substantially contradict systematics Loesener. Nemopanthus, amelanchier , nested genus . family Aquifoliaceae organized four groups, each them having a geographic or ecological peculiarity.
