The relationship between condom use, sexually transmitted diseases, and location of commercial sex transaction among male Hong Kong clients.

摘要: Objective: This study investigated the consistency of condom use and prevalence self-reported sexually transmitted diseases (STD) among male Hong Kong commercial sex clients with respect to geographical location these transactions. Design methods: Male were identified via three independent population based surveys conducted in 1998 1999 2001. A unique confidential telephone system was used collect sensitive information. Results: Respondents patronizing female workers (FSW) ‘mainland China only’ or other places’ more likely be inconsistent users (28 34%) than those FSW ‘Hong (9.1%). similar pattern found for STD past 6 months (10.1 8.1 1.0% respectively). Patronizing mainland associated a higher (adjusted OR 4.16) consistent potential confounding factors including calendar year survey age educational attainment HIV-related knowledge perceived efficacy HIV/AIDS prevention number partners presence regular partner months. Clients who had both condoms (paired 4.67 P<0.05). Conclusion: The sexual activity is related irrespective engaged such activity. Prevention programmes need aware how risk behaviour dependent on local contexts. (author’s)
