摘要: In stabilometry, the sway of human body in an upright posture is studied by monitoring displacement its centre pressure lateral (x) and anterio-posterior (y) directions. The area covered this trace has been defined as that ellipse fitted to data. Conventionally, angle inclination found through linear regression (LR) on data x - y plane. present paper, principal component analysis (PCA) proposed providing a more suitable basis for estimation area. Results simulations stabilometric tests confirm large differences between estimates obtained over y, x, with PCA generally agreeing either one or other LRs. technique therefore recommended improved measuring stabilograms, similar sets. Keywords: balance, signal processing,
