摘要: In this paper we present recent results from an on‐going effort to characterize the nanomechanical properties of a variety tribochemical, antiwear films through use modern scanning probe techniques. The two types wear studied, derived zinc dialkyl dithiophosphate (alkyl ZDDP) and diaryl (aryl ZDDP), were chosen because they possess significantly different characteristics. High resolution AFM topographic images showed significant differences between films. More interestingly, high imaging quantitative mechanical testing using interfacial force microscope (IFM), revealed elastic plastic films; in addition each type film possessed several distinct regions with respect properties. maximum values for modulus hardness located on highly loaded alkyl ZDDP which exhibited best tribological performance. contrast, aryl films, poorer behaviour, devoid such resilient regions. Our correlate macroscopic behavior tribochemical nanometer scale.
