摘要: There has been a recent trend in Asia towards increasing incidence of prostate cancer, with some low-risk regions, such as Japan and Singapore, reporting more rapid increase than high-risk countries. In this study, age-specific age-standardised (world) rates mortality for cancer Asian countries 1978-1997 were retrieved compared. The results confirm that the risen by 5-118% indexed Incidence at centres rose much 102% (Miyagi 6.3-12.7 per 100,000 person-years) whilst Singaporean Chinese increased 118% from 6.6 to 14.4 person-years. lowest rate recorded was Shanghai, China highest Rizal Province Philippines, although still lower those United States America (USA) many European Whilst absolute value is not comparable North American populations, ratio similar data showed rising trend. increases age-adjusted person-years, adjusted world standard, ranged 50% Thailand 260% Korea. difference may be partly due genetic polymorphism androgen receptor metabolism pathway enzymes well dietary or environmental factors. particular, phytochemicals, isoflavonoids tea polyphenols, which are common diets promising anti-mitotic activity animal clinical studies. conclusion, gradual Westernisation, losing their cultural protective factors acquiring ones. A better understanding how these interact cause through further studies multi-ethnic perspective will facilitate appropriate public health strategies minimise maintain keep bay.
