摘要: Background and aims The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness a levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine device (LNG-IUS) in symptomatic relief pain women with endometriosis additionally, assess changes women's life quality serum cancer antigen (CA) 125 levels. Materials methods All who had an LNG-IUS inserted for treatment dysmenorrhea, chronic pelvic or both more than six months over two-year period were included study. Each woman asked complete questionnaires Short Form-36 visual analogue scales (VAS) first visit third, sixth, ninth twelfth after insertion. CA levels measured at each visit. Results Forty-five At end 12 months, mean dysmenorrhoea VAS score decreased from 6.13 2.88, dsyspareunia 6.04 2.61 level 50.67 22.45. Endometriomas reduced size (mean 31 20 mm) disappeared three. Conclusions Several favourable outcomes found following insertion: (i) dyspareunia clearly reduced; (ii) endometriomas decreased; (iii) significantly (iv) few experienced typical systemic adverse effects progestogens; however, LNG-IUS-related events generally tolerable discontinuation rate as low 6.66% (3/45).
