Effects of Aluminum Oxide on Combustion Behavior of Intumescent Fire-Retarded Polypropylene Composites

摘要: The melamine phosphate (MP) was synthesized from and acid. Aluminum oxide (Al2O3) added into the MP during its synthesis. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) used to characterize reaction products. composites were prepared polypropylene (PP) intumescent flame retardant (IFR) additives of pentaerythritol (PER). effect Al2O3 content on properties investigated by limiting oxygen index (LOI), thermogravimetry (TG) scanning electron microscopy (SEM). results indicated that LOI value could be enhanced obviously with suitable Al2O3. When 6 wt% in MP, increased 35.5% 31.0% for composite without Al2O3, amount residual char at 600°C 8.9 13.9 wt%.
