摘要: Abstract Discrimination diagrams are being widely used for the past four decades to infer tectonomagmatic affiliation of old rocks. There several major- and trace-element composition based bivariate, ternary multi-element discriminant function in literature. Recent evaluation performance these indicates that sets recent diagrams, which tectonic boundaries determined from probability estimates settings island arc, continental rift, ocean-island mid-ocean ridge, have shown very high success rates. In this work, we created an extensive geochemical database on-land off-shore basic rocks northwest Mexico applied highly successful their origin. Each (two two trace-elements) contained five diagrams. All confirmed a rift setting 13 Ma age, major-element also indicated setting. However, one set discrimination arc transition other trace- element only sample Comondu has required complete dataset, MORB (success rates 90%-98% 100% respectively) (most samples were obtained DSDP drilled sites Gulf California some dredged rock California) with inferred new general, conformity those reported literature on methods. The results show may successfully discriminate original comparatively younger older on-shore as well sea-water altered deep-sea material.
