摘要: Extensive usage and continuous release of personal care products (PCPs) lead to ubiquitous contamination aquatic environment. As PCPs are mainly intended for external use on the human body, they not subjected metabolic alterations; therefore, large quantities enter environment as such. Being biologically active persistent, expected pose a wide range risks habitat. Although studies environmental concentration toxicity endpoints available many PCPs, risk assessment (ERA) was scantily reported. It observed that most ERAs were based hazard/risk quotient approach following three-tier due lack sufficient toxicological data (i.e., long-term at environmentally relevant (ppt–ppb) concentrations). From ERA reports, it understood disinfectants, triclosan triclocarban, cause high organisms. In case preservatives (parabens), low. Some fragrances (synthetic musks) UV filters also shown be toxic in habitat; however, majority them categorized less risky. Other than macro forms, antibacterial likely affect community structure nontarget (nonpathogenic) bacteria may aid developing (multidrug) resistance among pathogenic nonpathogenic species. Therefore, better assessment, organisms given importance, include interactions chemical mixture, degradation products, bioavailability criterion well.
