摘要: We tested the theory that reactive oxygen species cause aging. augmented natural antioxidant systems of Caenorhabditis elegans with small synthetic superoxide dismutase/catalase mimetics. Treatment wild-type worms increased their mean life-span by a 44 percent, and treatment prematurely aging resulted in normalization (a 67 percent increase). It appears oxidative stress is major determinant it can be counteracted pharmacological intervention.
