摘要: Prism adaptation is a well-known method used to investigate brain plasticity, and promising technique for the rehabilitation of unilateral spatial neglect (USN). Only little evidence about mechanisms prism (PA) in patients with left-brain damage on record, putative differences PA, aftereffects (AEs), between left right damage. In present study, PA AEs were assessed 30 brain-damaged patients, 20 right-sided lesions (10 10 without USN), left-sided USN, as well control group 24 age-matched participants. All underwent lenses shifting field vision towards side lesion, followed by two measures detecting AEs: proprioceptive (P) visuo-proprioceptive (VP) straight-ahead tasks. To temporal course different groups, recorded immediately min after PA. Before at end 10-min delayed evaluation, tasks assess USN (target cancellation drawing) also administered. adapted prisms. However, left-brain-damaged (LBD) presented reduced AEs, compared right-brain-damaged (RBD) USN. Moreover, while both controls LBD adapting left-shifting prisms had VP condition, not from zero (i.e., no AEs) patients. Finally, condition showed an improvement drawing, but cancellation, These results suggest that leftward associated larger decay role hemisphere maintaining these findings can be relevance clinical application this neurological populations.
