摘要: Abstract The Cyclotron Auto-Resonance Maser (CARM) is under investigation at the US Naval Research Laboratory as an efficient source of high power millimeter-wave and submillimeter-wave radiation for applications such plasma heating, advanced rf accelerators, space-based radars. A short-pulse 100 GHz CARM oscillator experiment based on a 600 kV, 200 A, 50 ns electron beam way. mode selective, high- Q waveguide cavity with rippled-wall Bragg reflectors designed to operate in TE 61 mode. novel cold cathode diode used produce quality ( Δυ z / υ ≤ 3%) annular momentum pitch ratio 0.6. features nonemitting focussing electrodes velvet emitter. main objective demonstrate efficiency (∼ 20%) approximately 20 MW. In addition, long pulse, 250 GHz, 500 1 μs MIG-type thermionic gun planned. design these experiments optimization are discussed.
