摘要: Special conservation efforts should be made for relict species, as they usually have small population sizes and restricted distributions, placing them in critical extinction risk. To achieve conservation, information about genetic diversity distribution is needed. Here, using nine nuclear microsatellites, we analyzed 23 populations of five recently described species Magnolia distributed Mexico, which were previously assigned to dealbata. We aimed determine the level variation proposed measures. Compared other endemic found a moderate most populations; however, identified two with no variation. Additionally, evidence positive values inbreeding likely due geitonogamy. strong structure, low effective size, bottlenecks. Patterns differentiation did not support morphological distinction so hypothesized that gene pools may instead represent well-differentiated single species. argue pattern explained by natural fragmentation cloud forests after glaciation events, effects drift poorly connected flow. Despite levels diversity, special attention needed guarantee emphasis on central region country well valuable southwestern region.
