摘要: SUMMARY The influences of the distribution ammonium polyphosphate (APP) in polystyrene/nylon-6 [PS/polyamide-6 (PA6)] blends and continuity (PA6 + APP) phase on flame retardancy were investigated. The retardant properties evaluated by limiting oxygen index (LOI), vertical flammability test cone calorimeter tests. results showed that APP is exclusively dispersed PA6 phase, formed a continuous state when content PS/PA6 was higher than 32% (w/w). For with decrease caused an increase LOI values from 26% to 33% reduction peak heat release rate. improvement attributed concentration which benefited fast formation intumescent charred layer. transformation morphology discontinuous at below (w/w) LOI. Results thermo-gravimetric tests indicated layer thus could be responsible for deterioration properties, also confirmed scanning electron microscopy. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
