摘要: Foveal and peripheral target detection were compared in young adults (M age = 22 years) older 66 who optically corrected for the viewing distance. In a two-alternative, forced-choice task, letters presented at 0 degree to 10.5 degrees from fixation. Targets alone, flanked on each side by one noise element (i.e., nontarget letter), or embedded horizontal row of 19 elements. An Age X Noise Level Location interaction was obtained, wherein differences largest targets noise. Slope analyses latency data showed that performance high-noise condition most similar low-noise condition. At functional level, results indicated aging is associated with restricted useful field view. addition, suggest search can be described model which take smaller perceptual samples visual scene scan these more slowly than do adults.
