Thyroid nodules: diagnostic evaluation based on thyroid cancer risk assessment

摘要: Thyroid nodules are extremely common and can be detected by sensitive imaging in more than 60% of the general population. They often identified patients without symptoms who undergoing evaluation for other medical complaints. Indiscriminate thyroid with biopsy could cause a harmful epidemic diagnoses cancer, but inadequate selection lead to missed clinically relevant cancer. Recent clinical guidelines advocate conservative approach based on risk assessment as determined ultrasound features guide need biopsy.
