摘要: This paper analyzes published and unpublished data on phase resetting of the circadian oscillator in fungus Neurospora crassa demonstrates a correlation between period behavior several mutants with altered periods: As increases, apparent sensitivity to by light cycloheximide decreases. Sensitivity temperature pulses may also decrease. We suggest that these mutations affect amplitude change is responsible for observed changes both stimuli. secondary hypothesis, we propose compensation can be explained amplitude: mechanism increase maintain constant period. A number testable predictions arising from two hypotheses are discussed. To demonstrate hypotheses, mathematical model time-delay presented which increased single parameter. The exhibits predicted behavior: With standard perturbation, smaller produces type 0 larger 1 resetting. Correlations period, amplitude, demonstrated other types oscillators. Examples correlated Drosophila hamsters raise possibility general phenomenon
