摘要: Abstract Background: The papules and pustules of rosacea can be effectively treated with topical metronidazole. optimal concentrations metronidazole optimum frequencies application are uncertain. Traditionally, twice-daily applications have been advised, based on the pharmacokinetic profile Once-daily may safer less expensive, they enhance patient compliance. Objective: We compared efficacy safety 2 commercially available formulations (0.75% cream formulation 1.0% formulation) when both were used in a once-daily regimen. Methods: A multicenter, randomized, investigator-blind, parallel group trial was conducted at 3 separate clinical sites located US cities. study enrolled 72 patients least 8 to 50 inflammatory facial lesions (pustules papules) moderately severe erythema. Patients randomly assigned receive either 0.75% or instructed apply medication once daily for 12 weeks. Patients' evaluated baseline weeks 3, 6, 9, 12. Results: There no significant differences between treatment groups any parameters evaluated. overall median percentage change lesion count end point −62% −60% group. erythema scores endpoint −26% −30% Regarding physician assessment global severity, 57% subjects (20/35) 37% (13/35) rated as having clear mild condition point. Both drugs well tolerated; there difference number drug-related adverse events two agents. Conclusion: This controlled demonstrates that cream, daily, provide well-tolerated moderate rosacea.
