摘要: Abstract : This report describes a Geographic Information System (GIS) that displays ~500 sand placement events in Florida between 1959 and 2006. These include: beach nourishment projects, renourishment events, dune restoration emergency berm placements, inlet bypassing, dredged material disposal. Data were consolidated from disparate sources to provide comprehensive GIS. Each event is represented by unique line file containing attribute information on project type, year, action agency, data source, borrow site (when available). The GIS also includes point files representing survey the distribution and/or abundance of six high-priority bird species variety state-wide surveys. Bird are presented for piping plover, snowy red knot, least tern, black skimmer, American oystercatcher. provides an overview coastal engineering activities Florida, focusing primarily placement; how these have been tracked agencies; suggests ways this could be regularly updated highly useful tracking system.
